The framework conditions for the agreed opening steps in Vorarlberg from March 15 should be in place by next Monday. Labor Minister Kocher will be a guest at “Vorarlberg Live” on Thursday at 5 pm.
“Then they have to be fixed,” said Governor Markus Wallner (ÖVP) on Thursday in a joint press conference with Labor Minister Martin Kocher (ÖVP). Wallner did not want to be accused of having a tight schedule – keyword planning security. The economy had requested March 15 as the opening date, he emphasized.
Positive effects for the labor market
Both the governor and Kocher underlined the positive effects that opening up the job market would bring. “That will have a strong effect, even if it will take a few weeks,” said Kocher, referring to the experience after the opening of trade and body care services. The minister reported on 120,000 people who had returned to their jobs from unemployment or short-time work.
Uncertainty in planning
Everyone would have to deal with the current uncertainty – especially with regard to planning. “We are very brave in Austria when it comes to opening steps,” said Kocher. Wallner emphasized that one should try to open it up anyway, the talks with the Ministry of Health went well. On Wednesday afternoon, Wallner had a video conference with Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens). “We clarify under which security standards an opening can take place, equally for the areas of gastronomy, culture and sport”. The intermediate status of the negotiations is not commented on, solutions are to be found by Monday and then presented.
The focus of the discussions is likely to be the extent to which corona self-tests can be used as access permits. The state of Vorarlberg sees the use of self-tests as the basis for opening steps. In the westernmost state they want to open up gastronomy both indoors and outdoors. Visits to cultural and sporting events should also be possible again on a small scale.
