Foxconn and Fisker plan cheaper electric car – Economy –

Fisker plans to build around 250,000 vehicles annually with Foxconn

The Taiwanese Apple contract manufacturer Foxconn and the US electric car company Fisker are targeting a lower price segment with their jointly developed vehicle, which many large manufacturers are also looking at. The model announced for 2023 will cost significantly less than the first Fisker Ocean, which will be sold from 37,500 dollars (just under 31,000 euros), said company boss Henrik Fisker after presenting the latest quarterly figures on Thursday evening.

Henrik Fisker also described in a conference call with analysts how the company intends to make money beyond just selling the cars. This includes the offer of additional functions – which can be sold several times per car when leasing. Fisker expects that a car will have up to ten different owners over a lifetime of 12 to 15 years in the leasing model. When changing, the car is reset – so that the next leasing customer has to pay again for the function.

Fisker plans to start production of its first Ocean model, which it is building with auto contract manufacturer Magna, in late 2022. So far there have been around 12,500 reservations for it. Around 250,000 vehicles of the second model are to be built annually in cooperation with Foxconn. Fisker closed the past quarter with a loss of $ 12 million, the company has no sales yet.
