Weng / Innkreis (A) A.Owing to the strong demand on the biomass heating market and the expansion of the product range, Hargassner has decided to expand the regional location in Weng with a construction volume of approx. 20 million euros and a size of 18,000 m². The additional area increases the annual production capacity from 10,000 to 20,000 boilers.
In 1984 it all started with a promise that senior partner Anton Hargassner made to his wife: “I’ll build you a heater that you will never have to add again!”
37 years and a family generation later, this promise became a global company with strong regional roots, a total company area of over 36,000 m² and around 500 employees (and the trend is rising). In 2020, the strongest sales year to date, almost 12,000 boilers left the Weng plant.
Expansion at the Weng location: A clear commitment to the region
Biomass, or rather, heating with wood is still on the up. As a sustainable alternative to oil and gas, pellet, wood chip and log heating systems from Hargassner have established themselves on the world market in recent years. In order to meet the increasing demand, Hargassner is investing approx. 20 million euros at the company location in Weng. By expanding by an additional 18,000 m², a total company size of around 55,000 m² is achieved.
In the extension, space will be created for new heating assembly and order-picking lines, an automated high-bay warehouse with up to 6,000 additional pallet spaces, incoming goods and dispatch logistics. For the expansion, Hargassner relies on long-term, regional construction partners. For example, the architects Tech3, Swietelsky as master builder or DHF for steel construction are on board.
“We are happy that after a long time dominated by negative headlines, we can serve with positive news! The trend towards biomass and sustainable heating is unbroken despite the corona crisis. Many people are currently converting their old heating system to a new biomass heating system from our house. As a pioneer in environmentally conscious heating, we are proud that we are at the forefront in the renewable energy sector. This is due to the many years of experience and constant efforts in the further development of our products, ”says Managing Director Anton Hargassner.
Up to 50 employees will have their workplaces in the centrally located, 5-storey office and social wing. With the construction of the new training and practice rooms in Energy World, which opened in 2019, Hargassner has shown how important the training and further education of its employees and partner companies is. In the new extension there is space for further training rooms as well as a spacious break center with a front garden.
Due to the steadily increasing number of employees, the parking spaces around the building are becoming scarce. Hargassner creates space for 250 cars in an underground car park under the new building.
Numerous benefits for employees
The fitness studio, which opened in 2009, will be moved to the new office and employee wing and enlarged due to its great popularity. Thus, in addition to strength building and cardio equipment, courses such as full-body training, back fitness or yoga can also be increasingly used by employees.
The well-being of its employees is very important to Hargassner. In addition to the free fitness studio, the company restaurant “Kesselstube” offers regional delicacies at the highest level. Here, too, great attention is paid to the regionality of the processed products and their freshness.
Biomass heating from the pioneer
Convenience, efficiency, environmental friendliness: these are just a few of the properties that apply to Hargassner biomass heating. In order to offer the right wood heating system for every need, flexibility and a wealth of variants are very important. Hargassner has a wide range of products and accessories on offer, from single-family houses to large commercial businesses, from 6 kW to 330 kW, from compact and space-saving to versatile and powerful.
Expansion of the product range
With the takeover of Gilles, Energie- & Umwelttechnik from Gmunden in 2020, and the founding of the Hargassner Industry subsidiary, the product range was expanded to include the new power packages, the MAGNO-Line industrial heaters. The Magno line is available in the output range from 250 to 2500 kW and is mainly suitable for commercial and industrial companies, as well as hotels and restaurants or public buildings.
In order to further strengthen its presence in the alternative energy sector, Hargassner has also acquired a stake in Thermosolar. This company deals with the development, production and sales of innovative solar energy systems.
Hargassner boilers go around the world
The Hargassner biomass heating from the factory in Weng is not only used in Austrian boiler rooms. Exports are handled through branches and general agencies in over 30 countries around the world. The main export markets include Germany, France, Switzerland and Italy. But Hargassner biomass heating systems are also in demand in countries such as New Zealand, Canada and Japan. The export share is already over 75% of sales and is constantly increasing.
