The new feature FPS Boost it allows backwards compatible games Xbox Series X|S to play with even better performance in the future. The new feature increases the refresh rates of selected backwards compatible titles and thus ensures smooth gameplay.
Five titles start with FPS Boost
Backward compatible games run natively on Xbox Series X | S and use the full power of the CPU, GPU and SSD. In the future, additional selected games are to be supported, which lead to doubled (60 FPS) and quadrupled (120 FPS) frame rates. The following games are now available with FPS Boost support:
The new feature can be (de) activated for the corresponding games via extended menu items in the system settings of the Xbox Series X | S. In the future, announcements about other titles that support the feature will follow.
Also included in Xbox Game Pass
Aside from the two Ubisoft titles, the other three supported games are also included in the Xbox Game Pass, so nothing stands in the way of trying it out quickly! Since some of the games are already a few years old and have not seen the Xbox One X adaptation, the resolution will not change for the time being. In contrast to the adjustments to the Xbox One X, according to Microsoft, no adjustment to the source code of the games was necessary for FPS Boost. The doubling of the frame rate therefore only takes place on the 3D interface level. I’m curious to see when there will be more games and higher resolutions to be admired on the powerful hardware of the new generation of consoles.
