Wacker Innsbruck wins sovereign, BW Linz wins top game against Lafnitz

Promotion aspirant Wacker Innsbruck scored the second win in the second game after the winter break in the second division on Friday. The Innsbruck team won 3-0 (2-0) at FC Juniors OÖ and temporarily moved up to fourth place as the best club willing to move up.

In the top game of the round, the third-placed Blau Weiß Linz defeated the second Liefering, who was not eligible for promotion, 1-0 as did Amstetten in the Lower Austria derby Horn.

Wacker’s success in Pasching was safe. The goals were scored by Lukas Fridrikas from a penalty margin (20th), Fabio Viteritti from a penalty (38th) and Atsushi Zaizen from a rebound (57th). The Tyroleans are initially two points ahead of their first promotion competitor GAK, but can be overtaken by the Grazers with a victory on Saturday (8:25 p.m.) in the Styrian duel at Kapfenberger SV.

With his 1-0 victory in a direct duel, blue and white stalked Liefering up to two points. Philipp Pomer scored the gold goal for Linz, who remained flawless in 2021, with a lift into the far corner (70th). Leader SV Lafnitz had the chance to extend their lead in the table with the result on Friday evening in their guest appearance at Austria Lustenau (start of the game at 8:25 p.m.)

SKU Amstetten rehabilitated thanks to a late goal by captain Matthias Wurm (88th) against Horn for the 0-1 defeat at the start of the spring against the Rapid Amateurs and moved up to eighth place for the time being. The Rapid Amateurs inherited the “Red Lantern” from the bottom of the table from their city rivals Austria. Its Young Violets landed their second win of the season with a surprising 1-0 win at Vorwärts Steyr. Florian Fischerauer scored the winning goal in the third minute of stoppage time.

Supplementary games fixed: Lafnitz plays “home games” in Wiener Neustadt
