After the new US administration publicly agreed to hold talks, Iran did not rule out a meeting on Friday either. The German Chancellor Angela Merkel was confident that the nuclear deal could still be saved. “If everyone is convinced that this agreement should be given a chance again, then ways should be found to restart this agreement,” said Merkel. “I will at least do my best to bring new momentum to the negotiations.” But there is still a “diplomatic balancing act or show of strength” ahead.
